Possibilities & Resentments: Immigration Policy

Isn't this what it comes down to: America needs its continuing flow of immigrants seeking a better life. We always have. Yet, it's always been a clumsy, unsettling process of realigning opportunities and roles, of new possibilities and resentments, too. But we still need the additional labor resources, the intellectual and creative potential, the challenge to us to become more than we are. We still need the personal and cultural growth and enrichment, the increasing strength and resiliency it brings to America as a nation. Right now, we need the legal and illegal immigrants that have been absorbed into productive work and life here. We do.
